Railey Creek Millwork
In the fall of 2017 my wife came up with an idea to make some four player wahoo boards to sell as Christmas presents. It went over so well that we incorporated the business in January of 2018.
The first boards we made were made from a 3/4" plywood that we purchased at our local lumberyard. We still make the plywood boards and offer other materials here, at local craft shows and at several craft malls in Branson MO. If you've seen us at a show or in Branson and can't find what you're looking for here, Send my wife a note at raileycreek [!at] gmail.com and she'll fix you up.
We manufacture products using maple, ash, red cedar, poplar, and yellow pine as suited for the application of the material. All of the finishes we apply are an oil based product that soaks into the wood as opposed to sitting on top of it. In the event of a light scratch or scuff it can be buffed to remove the oopsie, if it's not too deep, without sanding through the finish. The finishes that we apply should last a lifetime with very little maintenance.
We have improved the process of making game boards over the years and as a matter of process, improved quality, appearance, and durability. I sand each board with a sanding block, by hand. As I sand each board I'm aware that it isn't just the umpteen thousandth board I've sanded, it's "your board". This makes each one special knowing that family and friends will gather around that board for fun, laughs, and maybe a (small) disagreement, for years to come. We expect the game board that you purchase from us as a newlywed to be passed on to your grandchildren.
A very nice lady once told me that "A family that plays together, stays together". On that thought, we will continue make and improve our products until every home in the USA has a Railey Creek game board.
